Transition

So Wednesday I went to the doctor and told her that not much has changed. We did another x-ray and found that the effusion is still there. She said that the body would eventually absorb it. So I did what any good cyclist would do. I went out for a celebratory ride. I traced the 50K Tulsa Tough southern route. It was a great day and a good ride. My knee did not bother me in the way that it had in the past. It actually was kind of a non-issue for most of the ride. I started to feel it toward the end of the ride, but nothing as prominent as it has been for some of my past rides. It gives me hope that whatever is up with my knee, I can get past it, learn how to deal with it and continue to ride.

The morning temp today was in the low 60s, up from the usual 30s of the past couple of months, so I took the opportunity to ride into work. It was a glorious morning along the river. When I sunk into the valley, the temp dropped about 5 - 8 degrees and then rising again as I got more into the sunlight. Speeds are kept low, gears are kept high(er), soaking up the morning. I think that I can eventually get back to regular riding if I continue to take it easy early in the season.

Rain is predicted for this coming week. If it's not too bad, I'll go for a ride on Tues. at lunch. I might even have some folk join me. We may have to dodge the raindrops though.....

Ebbs and flows

Today, I will go to the doctor and see how my knee is doing. Actually I know how my knee is doing, not well. What I will learn today is what the next steps will be. I'm thinking that I will get an MRI and follow up to find out what my treatment will be going forward. I would not be happy with sitting out the season, but if I need to then that's what I need to do.

I am going to go on a ride today. I have put some pressure on my knee by using the stationary bike, I'll see what happens. I may just have to take it easy for some time. That will be a new thing for me. I can see also that I am starting to put on some pounds. Just a couple extra, but I can see where if I don't get out on the road, that I could continue to put on weight. So I'll have to watch what I am eating more. That's going to be a problem, cause I does likes to eat and the missus does not make resisting food too easy. It's one of my simple pleasures and she creates alot of pleasures, mmmmmmmmm.
